The
manager of the Hotel Dona Gracia presented me with a wonderful
opportunity to do some work in a Beit K'nesset (synagogue) that he was building in
Tiberias. He wished me to paint The Four Holy Cities of Israel for them.
I had long wished to do the sort of historical serious painting which such a series would entail. The only real
challenge which arose in the painting process was the design for Tz’fat.
We couldn’t find an appropriate photograph to base the work on. In the
end I had to cobble together five different photos to come up with
something that I felt was worthy of inclusion in the series.
